Job Outline:

Based in Bristol a market leader within Semiconductor CMOS ICs development is now looking for an experienced Applications Engineer to join their rapidly expanding team.

The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting mixed signal CMOS ICs utilizing wireless and wired protocols. This will require a board, or module, level understanding of such ICs.

As Applications Engineer you will support the Hardware and Optical Developments of the ICs.

Your main duties will include High Speed Hardware Design (schematic/PCB); Signal Integrity Appreciation; and IC Verification and debug.

You will produce Datasheets, Product Definitions, Customer Reports, and Applications Reports which will support the product development and Test.

Working alongside the Software and Embedded Engineers you will develop Reference Design Kit.

To support Optical Development, you will be responsible for Optical Assembly Design / Verification for High Speed Transceivers, up to 100G.

Tests will include Optical Measurements and Optical Alignment for Silicon Photonic Optical Assemblies or Parallel Arrays.

As the successful candidate you will be primarily involved with the lab based development of the CMOS ICs.  There may be occasions where you are required to provide support to customers.

Qualifications & Experience:

Candidates should have a strong background in IC Development, gained within a commercial environment.  Preference will be given to those from an RF, Wireless, Optics or Telecoms background.

Ideally you will have experience with FPGA and ASIC verification, VHDL, Verilog, C or Perl programming.

Experience with I2C/SPI and other high speed digital interfaces would also be advantageous.

Preference will be given to candidates who have experience in optical communications, optical measurement and test, and optical alignment techniques.
