A leading developer of Fibre Optic Processing Equipment is now looking for a Service Support Applications Engineer to join their team based in Exeter.
Acting as the service and support interface between the factory and the customer, you will service customer equipment and support customers with email and phone enquiries.
Working across the full product range, you will repairing all types of fibre-optic processing equipment when it is returned to the Exeter office for repair.
Using your product knowledge you will create customer support materials such as work instructions and “how to” videos.
Via phone, email or video you will help the customer to resolve process issues and work with the customer to improve machine performance and up time.
Pre-Sales you will take customer requirements and concepts and creating applications and process for realising these concepts using the glass processing equipment.
Where necessary you will test and evaluate customer applications on our client’s equipment.
Post sales support will include enabling the customers to get the most out of the equipment.
At all stages of the sales process you will support the team and customers by demonstrating equipment to prospective customers at trade shows and also in the office.
Further you will provide feedback to the US based factory on process that have been developed and feedback to the R&D team on the usability and potential improvements of the equipment.
There will also be opportunities to design jigs and fixtures to extend the use of splice equipment.
Our client’s customer base covers the UK and the EU, whereby most support and training will be done remotely, with occasional face to face site visits.
Essential to succeed as Service Support and Applications Engineer is a good understanding of optical fibre, it’s uses and methods of processing and using it in customer end products.
You should be able to interpret standard operating procedures together with mechanical/engineering and assembly drawings.
You should also have a proven ability to create clear procedures for customers to repair their own equipment or for applications being made on our client’s equipment.
Candidates MUST be eligible to work and live in the UK. Copies of Visa and Passport will be requested.
