Business Development Manager – Optical Instrumentation – Oxfordshire – SO/IM341

Salary / benefits: up to c£50k base, plus car, plus bonus and benefits. 

Job Term: Permanent / Full Time

Job Outline:

A leading manufacturer and supplier of optical instrumentation, is now looking for an additional Business Development Manager to develop and grow their sales in a designated sector.

Based at and working from their facility in Oxford, you will work closely with the Engineering and Sales teams to grow UK Sales in your Sector.

You will be the principal point of contact for customers for all projects, ensuring that all agreed objectives are met with on-time delivery.

Working closely with engineers and operations you will ensure projects are delivered on time/on budget.

In addition to generating new business and nurturing new customer relations, you will also provide technical and logistics support to all existing and new accounts within the markets served.

You will identify and evaluate potential new accounts, and make recommendations to Sales Management whether or not to engage actively as a commercial prospect.

To support Business Development activities you will identify and attend key tradeshows and other related marketing events.

Working autonomously, you will be responsible for all aspects of sales and BDM, right from initial enquiry to proposals generation, price negotiations and to final product delivery.

BDM and Support Staff are expected to provide regular Management reports on all key accounts including half year updates.

Working with Sales leadership you will identify key strategic initiatives and areas for improvement; create actionable goals with supporting activities for each; and report on the results.

Working with customers throughout the UK, you will be required to regularly travel to visit customers, and there may be occasional visits to Europe and the Main Offices in the US.

Qualifications:

To succeed in this role, you should hold a Bachelors in Physics, Optics, Chemistry, Engineering or a related discipline.

Experience:

You will have worked in a technical sales role for 5-10 years, and you will have a proven track record in sales / BDM, growing a territory, and selling into OEMs within a similar market.

Additional Information:

Candidates MUST be eligible to work and live in the UK. Copies of Visa and Passport will be requested.   Candidates MUST hold a valid driving licence
