Computational Physicist – Design Software – South East – EO/RC1231

Salary: Negotiable, DOE

Job Outline:

A global leader in optical design software, is now searching for a Computational Physicist to join their growing team.

The successful candidate will work as part of the Research and Development team to fix bugs, remove code debt and improve the algorithms and architecture used in the software’s code base.

Working alongside fellow technical staff, you will be responsible for developing new features for upcoming software tool releases, as well as conducting research on new technologies and algorithms for implementation within existing software tools and upcoming products.

In this rewarding position, a strong background in developing complex computational algorithms is essential.

This vacancy is perfect for MSc and PhD graduates with a few years of experience, with further opportunities available to those individuals who excel in this role.


The successful candidate will be degree qualified in Optics, Physics or similar.


3+ years of experience in developing complex computational algorithms is key for the role, with experience with data visualisation tools being a plus.

Preferably candidates will have experience with C, C++ and Microsoft Visual Studio.

Additionally, an interest and experience in machine learning applications would be beneficial.

Applicants should have an inquisitive mindset and passion for technical research and development.


Candidates MUST be eligible to live and work in the UK.
