Firmware Engineer – Optical / Digital Comms – Southampton – EE/IM1331

Job Outline:

A market leader in the design and supply of analogue and mixed signal CMOS IC for High Speed Digital and Optical Communications, is now looking for an additional Firmware Engineer to join their facility in Southampton.

Working alongside the Senior Firmware Engineer you will be involved in developing firmware and software for optical modules.

Working throughout the full product lifecycle, you will design and implement Firmware from concept, prototype, pilot through to mass production.  This will include defining, developing, debugging, troubleshooting and testing at different levels.

Whilst you will be based at the facility, you will provide support to customers, and the engineering team, by creating supporting documentation and by providing on-site customer training.


To succeed as the Firmware Engineer you will have at least 5 years’ experience in the development of Embedded and Firmware for high speed digital or optical communications, gained through an internship or within your academic studies.  You will have worked throughout the full product life cycle including design, implementation, development, test, debug and documentation.

Preference will be given to individuals who have worked in a similar role within industry.


As the successful Firmware Engineer you should be qualified to at least Masters Level in a Electronics Engineering or relevant discipline such as Software or High Speed Digital Engineering.
