A world leader in Precision Optics is now looking for an additional Manufacturing Engineer to join their Taunton site.
Reporting to the Engineering Manager you will work to improve the process of manufacturing products, designing new equipment, processes, procedures and systems, purchasing and installing equipment.
You will assume ownership of Metal Machining, Lapping, Polishing and Plating processes, defining process settings and overseeing the operation of the machines.
This will include planning component production steps to achieve optimal results and compliant products. Validating production BoMs / Routings and Work Instruction Sheets.
Taking responsibility for defining what process operators need to routinely do in order to maintain high quality production output, you will provide and maintain process documentation, covering steady state production and recovery methods for dealing with out-of-limit or out-of-specification situations.
You will also train new process operators on current practice and processes, and work with shift leaders to ensure consistency across team members.
Within Machining you will be responsible for all aspects of the Processes, including Process Measurement, Process Control and Process Improvement.
The Manufacturing Manager is responsible for considering Health & Safety risks associated within their process area.
As the successful Manufacturing Engineer, you will have been working for 2 or more years, within a similar precision engineering / manufacturing or semiconductor site.
To succeed as the Manufacturing Engineer, you should have gained at least a Bachelors Degree, or equivalent in a STEM based subject; Science, Engineering, Physics or similar.
