Job Outline:

We are now looking for an experienced Manufacturing Engineer to join a leading developer of precision optics and opto-electronic products.

With a strong background in Manufacturing, LEAN, and Process Improvements, you will be expected to drive forward the development of new and existing manufacturing processes, develop supporting documentation and procedures, and specify new equipment.

Working within an NPI environment, you will be responsible for the supporting documentation, equipment and procedures; documenting manufacturing methods, tooling and fixture needs.

Reviewing the processes, fixtures and tooling required for assembly tasks, you will identify improvements, equipment requirements, and changes required to improve workflow.

You will investigate production and process issues, and provide support to key personnel, deploying best practices in terms of process yields, process times and process profitability.

You will identify and highlight project risks and solutions; conduct Design Reviews and support Business Systems to support the development and improvement of Processes.

This is a key role within the NPI Development, and therefore you will be required to work closely with stakeholders, both internal to and external to the organisation, including suppliers and end customers.


Ideally you will be qualified to at least Degree level in a Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering Discipline, or similar, and have experience in an NPI Process Development role. 


As the successful candidate you will have a proven track record in Manufacturing Engineering, Production Engineering, or Manufacturing Processes, having worked in a similar role in an NPI environment.

You will have experience working in a LEAN Manufacturing environment and be familiar with Six Sigma methodologies.  You should also be familiar with PFMEA, Control Plan Development, Process Mapping, and DMAIC.
