Mechanical Systems Engineer – Photonics – South Devon – DO/ET21

Salary – circa £40k per annum DOE

Job Term: Permanent / Full Time

Job Outline:

My client, who is a global leader in photonics technology, is looking for a Mechanical Systems Engineer to join their Systems Technology Group.

 

You will generate concept designs by combining electronics, photonics and mechanics, as well as drive mechanical designs for state-of-the-art photonic systems. Therefore, the successful candidate will have experience with 3D CAD Software i.e. SolidWorks and experience in thermal and stress analysis using FEA software.

 

As the Mechanical Systems Engineer you will generate drawings of suitable manufacturable mechanical parts and assemblies as part of the design process. Therefore, knowledge of current manufacturing techniques and their capabilities is essential.

 

The role entails co-ordinating thermo-mechanical testing and development and execution of test plans for environmental verification of photonic systems. Therefore, the successful candidate will be capable of generating testing and qualification campaigns.

 

In addition, you will be able interpret simulation results and feedback design changes to the team, therefore good communication skills are essential.

 

Willingness to learn, enthusiasm for the role and products, organised, and the ability to adapt will all be personal attributes of the ideal candidate.

 

Qualifications:

A minimum of BEng level in Mechanical Engineering.

 

Experience:

Relevant industry experience: design, test, product development.

 

Additional Information:

Candidates MUST be eligible to live and work in the UK.
