Process Engineer – Semiconductor – Oxfordshire – UM/IM1375

Salary: Negotiable c£30-45k, dependent upon experience

Job Term: Permanent, Full Time

Job outline:

A leading developer and manufacturer of semiconductor and optoelectronics devices is now looking for a Process Engineer/Physicist to join their rapidly growing team in Oxfordshire.

Reporting to the Chief Technical Officer you will work on some cutting-edge R&D projects including:

  • MicroLEDs (Red, Green and Blue)
  • LEDs (full spectral range from 365nm to 1.55um)
  • Monolithic arrays (Red, Green, Blue)
  • Laser Diode
  • VCSEL
  • RCLED
  • MicroLEDs Displays
  • Infrared Sensors

Moreover, you will be involved in wafer processing for device fabrication and, as an integral part of the development and improvement team, you will:

  • Provide dielectric deposition and etching (both dielectric and III-V semiconductor) expertise in process and product development.
  • Day to day operation & ownership of deposition and etching tools.
  • Direct technician/operator support to deliver process on agreed schedules.
  • Schedule and complete (hands-on where necessary) maintenance activities on all tools in area.
  • Monitor process outcomes against agreed requirements specs, recognising when to stop process and making process corrections.
  • Maintain statistical process control of all deposition and etching tools to ensure stable and robust processing platform.
  • Assist in creating building blocks for all deposition and etching processes.
  • Interface to design teams (spec reviews etc.)
  • Deliver process instructions/training for technician/operators and engineering colleagues.
  • Develop new processing steps to meet product and technology road-map requirements.
  • Deploy Change Control processes as required.

Qualifications:

As the successful candidate, you will hold a minimum of a Master’s Degree in Physics, Materials Science, Electronic Engineering or a related discipline with a relevant background in semiconductor. A PhD is preferred.

Experience:

To succeed as Process Engineer, you will have worked with in an R&D and/or commercial fabrication environment and/or academy institution researching, working and processing within Semiconductor Fabrication.

Your experience will include working in process development/ technology transfer
Experience with GaN, InGaN, GaAs substrate is a plus, but not essential.
