A leading developer of precision optical components now requires a Process Technician to join their Engineering team in Taunton.
On a daily basis you will provide support to Production and Engineering, carrying out process improvement projects in your defined product area, maintaining processing / working standards, monitoring process performance and maintaining efficient manufacturing workflow.
Process performance monitoring and production support is key to this role and will require you to gain an understanding of all adjustable parameters within a process and how to adjust process parameter to get the best results for each product type.
You will advise production staff on how best to plan component production through their process steps to achieve optimal results and compliant products. Validating production BoMs / Routings and Work Instruction Sheets.
You will also implement tooling and fixtures necessary to ensure repeatable processing.
You will provide support to Engineering by ensuring appropriate process inputs and outputs are correctly measured. This will include monitoring manufacturing data – Production control charts / reliability data / process capability information.
Process Control support will include monitoring process limits and control measures. You will be first call on troubleshooting out-of-control and out-of-specification process issues and investigating operational problems affecting production.
Further you will support engineers resolving process performance issues, work with maintenance engineers to understand limitations on process capability and identify opportunities for improvement and identify any scrap and near miss events.
You will be a key contributor to process improvement teams, commissioning process improvements and capital equipment and supporting the qualification of any relevant tooling.
Experience:
As the successful Process Technician, you will have at least 3 years relevant experience in a similar precision polishing / optical polishing environment.
Qualifications:
You should hold at least an HND or a Degree in a relevant Engineering Discipline.
