Company: EFFECT Photonics is a cutting-edge developer of high speed optical transceivers for communication networks based on Photonic Integrated technology. With exciting growth plans for 2018/19 onwards, we are now looking for enthusiastic and talented individuals to join the growing team.

Job Outline: 

EFFECT is looking for a Reliability Engineer to be responsible for conducting reliability, testing and qualification of photonic products at sub-assembly and package level.

Your key areas of responsibility will be:

Reliability Testing, which will focus on product reliability requirements and of test techniques is essential. This also covers components and sub-assemblies.

Failure Analysis duties include a detailed analysis of failures and the identification of failure modes at both package and chip level. Identification of root cause of failure in line failures, test failures and customer returns. Use external resources where necessary. Report findings. Implement and monitor corrective actions.

Qualification, satisfying both industry standards and customer specific requirements is essential before a product can be released. You will use both in-house laboratory facilities and external test organisations as required.

This will involve you working with component suppliers and drive qualification requirements.

Reporting duties include the preparation of test, qualification and RMA reports; presentation of test data, failure analysis investigations and progress on reliability and qualification testing.

Qualifications: 

As the successful candidate you will be qualified to Degree Level in an Engineering, or Science discipline.

Experience: 

A strong working knowledge of Photonic Products, Opto-Electronic Product Packaging, Electronic Circuits, Fibre Optics, Test Engineering and Product Quality are essential.

An in-depth understanding and appreciation of Product Reliability, Failure Analysis, FMEA, and Statistical Data Analysis will be advantageous.

Preference will be given to candidates who have knowledge and experience in Reliability Theory, FMEA, Production Assembly and Test Methods, ESD Protection and other test methods associated with the manufacture of electronic or photonic products.
