A global leader in the development of equipment used in research and development is now looking for Technical Buyer and Team Lead to join their Bristol site.
This is a key role within the Supply Chain function, ensuring that customers receive their products on time, to budget and to the highest quality standards.
You will be accountable for the entire cycle of procurement and as Senior Buyer you will be responsible for supplier analysis, supplier management and relevant performance metrics.
Working with the Purchasing Manager you will manage approved suppliers and implement the best commercial solutions for current and future parts and assemblies.
You will negotiate and manage Service Level Agreements to improve manufacturing times, ensuring cost reductions, reducing lead times and minimising supply risk and inventory exposure.
You will also be responsible for inventory management programs such as Consignment, Kanban, and Vendor Managed Inventory.
Directly managing buyer(s), setting objectives and managing capacity and performance, you will manage internal performance metrics in relation to procurement processes including order placement, orderbook management, vendor returns, queries and invoices.
Working closely with the planning team, understanding changes in business needs as well as communicating material availability issues that may impact build schedules.
You will be responsible for all stages of buying within your area, working closely with all key stakeholders to ensure best value and on time delivery.
Experience and Qualifications:
To succeed as Technical Buyer, you should have strong Excel and data analysis skills, and be fluent in the use of MRP systems, ideally E1 (JD Edwards), SAP or Oracle.
You will have a proven track record in an engineering/production environment driven by challenging deadlines and managing changes to ensure quality and delivery objectives are achieved.
In addition, the Team Lead should be able to manage conflicting priorities and people, be a clear and concise communicator.
Candidates must be eligible to work and live in the UK / Europe and hold a full driving licence. Copies of Passports / Visas will be requested for verification.
