A leading developer of Fibre Optic Processing Equipment is now looking for a Service and Support Engineer to join their team based in Exeter.
As the Service and Support Engineer, you will be servicing customer equipment and supporting customers throughout the UK and the EU.
You will become the service and support interface between the factory and the customer.
In addition to providing support via phone and email, you will also repair my client’s equipment when it is returned to the Exeter office for repair.
Becoming the product expert, you will create customer support materials such as work instructions and “how to” videos.
You will help customer resolve process issues and working with the customer to improve machine performance and up time.
There is also a requirement for you to train customers on the use of the equipment. Most training will be done remotely but occasionally some will be face to face at the customer location.
Prior to shipment to the end user, you will check new equipment, as required.
Where necessary, you will be expected to develop any application/process as required along with tooling/fixture creation.
Experience:
As the successful Service and Support Engineer you will have a good understanding of optical fibre, it’s uses and methods of processing and using it in customer end products.
You should be able to demonstrate your ability to interpret standard operating procedures together with mechanical/engineering and assembly drawings.
You will have previous experience in creating clear procedures for customers to repair their own equipment.
A sound familiarity with Windows, including microprocessor firmware programming equipment / techniques is essential.
Machining experience would be an advantage in this role.
